Islamabad: The Federal Shariat Court will hear the case regarding the ban on exports of goods to India and Israel on January 13, 2026. Both parties have been directed to submit their responses before the court. The case will be heard by a divisional bench comprising Justice Umar Farooq and Justice Rozi Khan.

During the previous hearing, FBR lawyer Hafiz Ihsan Khokhar argued that the High Court's order violates the constitutional principle of separation of powers. He added that courts do not have the mandate to interfere in policy decisions or economic principles.

The FBR's counsel further stated that the case involves matters of foreign relations and national security, and that the High Court cannot issue directions without declaring the SRO (Statutory Regulatory Order) illegal.

It is noted that in 2019, the government had issued a notification imposing a ban on exports to India and Israel, which was challenged by various parties in the Lahore High Court. The High Court had previously directed the formation of a committee to review the ban and reassess the matter.
