Lahore: The Federal Government has announced a reduction of Rs 22 per litre in the prices of petrol and diesel, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office Media Wing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the decision was taken to provide relief to the public as soon as fiscal space became available. He said providing relief to citizens remained among the government's top priorities.
The statement added that the government had already provided relief in the previous week and continued efforts to ease the burden on the public despite challenging economic conditions. It said subsidies were also provided for transport users, including motorcycles, rickshaws and goods carriers.
The Prime Minister further stated that even during global fuel crises, Pakistan ensured uninterrupted fuel supply through timely government measures and subsidies, preventing shortages in the country.
