Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet met today at the Finance Division under the chairmanship of Finance and Revenue Minister, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The ECC considered a request from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 455 million to conduct local government elections in Punjab, ICT, Sindh, and Balochistan during the current financial year 2025-26. The Committee directed the ECP to re-submit the request with detailed specifications of expenditure and utilization plans.

On submissions from the Interior and Narcotics Division, the ECC approved:

Rs. 100 million for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme (SAP) schemes executed via the Capital Development Authority.

Rs. 8.79 million for the purchase of spare parts and routine maintenance of helicopters under Frontier Corps Balochistan.

The ECC also approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 1 billion submitted by the Federal Education and Professional Training Division to maintain ongoing scholarship programs and launch new initiatives, including schemes for out-of-school children.

Additionally, the Committee approved the allocation of two consignments of relief goods, including tarpaulin tents and winter clothing, confiscated by Pakistan Customs and now vested as state property, to the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan. These will be used by the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority for emergency relief operations in calamity-affected areas.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari (virtually), and Rana Tanveer Hussain, along with federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies.
