Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, expressed deep grief over the passing of former Finance Minister and ex-Governor of the State Bank, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.
Senator Aurangzeb described Dr. Akhtar as a distinguished, principled, and wise voice in Pakistan's economic history. He said the late economist was a highly accomplished professional and an admirable human being, personally and professionally held in the highest regard.
The Finance Minister noted that Dr. Akhtar served the country with dedication and integrity in various top-level positions in managing Pakistan's economy. He added that her contributions to national economic development would always be remembered with respect.
Senator Aurangzeb extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.
