Five members bench of LHC dissolved in detention law case

Lahore: A five members bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) constituted to hear petitions against section 3 of detention law has been dissolved following recusal by Justice Khalid Ishaq.

The detention law case came up for hearing before 5-member bench of LHC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Aalia Neelum.

Justice Khalid Ishaq , member of five members bench recused himself from hearing the case which led to dissolution of bench.

CJ LHC will now constitute new bench to hear the case.

Justice Farooq Haider remarked the learned judge has filed report under 27-A notice in this case.

It is pertinent to mention here CJ LHC Aalia Neelum had admitted for early hearing on March 24 Punjab government case pertaining to suspension of detention law.

The court had ordered to fix central case for hearing on March 27.

Counsel for Punjab government had taken the plea the court had suspended section of detention law on petition from Zainab Umair and others. It is requested the case be fixed for hearing soon.
