FO seeks legal opinion from Attorney Gen office on matter of judicial assistance in Dr Aafia Siddiqui release case

Islamabad: Foreign Office (FO) has sought legal opinion from Attorney General (AG) office for providing assistance to court in US in Aafia Siddiqui release and repatriation case.

The Attorney General (AG) office sought 10 days time from court for filing government response.

The case related to release of Aafia Siddiqui imprisoned in US and her return to Pakistan came up for hearing Wednesday.

Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the case Wednesday.

Imran Shafiq advocate counsel for Dr Fouzia Siddiqui and former senator Mushtaq Ahmad appeared in the court.

FO authorities also appeared in the court in Aafia Siddiqui case.

FO sought legal opinion from AG office in connection with providing assistance to US court in the case of release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her return to Pakistan .

AG office requested the court to grant 10 days time to file reply from government side.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) took the plea 10 days time be given in the matter of government assistance to court in US in Dr Aafia Siddiqui release case.

Court accepted AAG plea and granted one week time.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till June 25.
