Former senator Taj Muhammad Afridi killed in traffic accident near Swabi

Swabi: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Taj Muhammad Afridi was killed in a traffic accident near Swabi while travelling on the Peshawar Motorway.

According to Motorway Police, the tragic accident occurred when the vehicle carrying the former senator went out of the driver's control and plunged off the road. Preliminary information suggested that a mechanical fault caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Taj Afridi died in the accident, while the driver sustained injuries. Officials said the former senator was travelling from Islamabad to Peshawar at the time of the incident. Motorway Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched relief operations.

Meanwhile Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has expressed profound sorrow and grief over the tragic demise of former Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi in a traffic accident and extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.

In his condolence message, Chairman Senate stated that the parliamentary, political, and public services of Taj Muhammad Afridi will always be remembered. He remarked that the passing of the former Senator is a significant loss for the nation as well as parliamentary circles.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the late leader played an important role in promoting public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strengthening democratic values, and contributing to the legislative process. He added that Taj Muhammad Afridi's dedication to public service, political wisdom, and efforts to uphold parliamentary traditions remained highly commendable.

The Chairman Senate further stated that the nation has lost a sincere, dignified, and people-oriented political figure whose contributions will continue to be acknowledged with respect and appreciation.

He prayed that Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and bless the bereaved family with patience and strength to bear this irreparable loss.
