Islamabad: Police in Peshawar claimed to have dismantled an inter-provincial robbery gang, killing four notorious members of the Waqar alias Major gang, while two others managed to escape. According to police, the killed suspects were highly wanted by police in three provinces and Islamabad. The Major gang had allegedly been involved in organized crime for the past 15 years.
Police said the gang's network extended across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad, while its members had repeatedly obtained bail in different cases. The suspects allegedly used clothing resembling security forces uniforms and modern equipment during robberies. They reportedly entered homes by posing as intelligence or security personnel and, under the pretext of conducting searches, looted cash, gold and other valuables.
