Muzaffarabad: Inspector General of Police Azad Kashmir, Rana Abdul Jabbar, stated that during a police operation in the Hussain Kot area of Rawalakot, based on a secret tip-off, four terrorists were killed, including the group's leader, Zarnosh Naseem.

In an emergency press conference held in his office chamber, the IG of Azad Kashmir stated that Zarnosh was a dangerous terrorist who had come to Azad Kashmir with his associates to establish a network of the terrorist insurgents.

During the operation, two police officers were martyred and seven others were injured due to the terrorists' gunfire and hand grenade attacks. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The terrorist network in Azad Kashmir is being operated by Dr. Abdur Rauf and Ghazi Shehzad from Afghanistan, and they are Indian-sponsored. Verified intelligence reports confirm their involvement.

Rana Abdul Jabbar said he was involved in the attack on a police checkpoint in Bagh on October 27, 2024, in which Constable Sajjad Resham was martyred.

Rana Abdul Jabbar said that this group was operating under a proxy network, following instructions from elements based in Afghanistan. Due to the joint efforts of the police and state institutions, the group was prevented from carrying out any major attack for three months.

On April 17, the media was informed that a four-member terrorist group had entered Azad Kashmir. Zarnosh and his associates were planning to target sensitive installations, public places, and political and religious figures. A continuous search operation was conducted against them in the forests of Pallandri, Bagh, and Rawalakot.

On Wednesday, confirmed intelligence was received about the presence of terrorists in a cave in the Hussain Kot area. Acting on this information, the police launched an operation after sunset. During the operation, the terrorists opened heavy fire on the police using hand grenades, Kalashnikovs, and other weapons, resulting in the martyrdom of two officers and injuries to five others.

In the police's retaliatory action, four terrorists were killed, including two suicide attackers. One of the terrorists was reported to be from Mandi Bahauddin. The IG stated that our officers sacrificed their lives to thwart the evil intentions of the terrorists. This operation sends a clear message that the state will not allow any terrorist to operate on the soil of Azad Kashmir.
