Rahim yar khan: Punjab Prosecutor General Chaudhry Irfan Sadiq Tarar has taken notice of the alleged murder of Fozia Bibi and declared the case a high-profile case, directing investigators to conduct a transparent and comprehensive probe.
Fozia Bibi was allegedly killed on August 16 within the jurisdiction of Zahir Pir Police Station in Rahim Yar Khan. According to initial information, her in-laws allegedly attempted to portray the incident as a suicide in the police report.
The victim's father-in-law reportedly called emergency service 15 to inform authorities about the incident. The suspicious circumstances subsequently led investigators to examine the case from different angles. The Punjab Prosecutor General summoned the investigating officer and issued important directions regarding the investigation.
He directed that the case be investigated strictly on merit and in accordance with transparent, modern scientific and forensic principles, with no aspect of the incident overlooked. He further ordered that all available forensic, medical and other scientific evidence be collected and preserved immediately and that evidence recovered from the crime scene and all other relevant material be incorporated into the investigation.
The prosecutor general directed that the investigation should not be unnecessarily delayed and that the challan should be prepared on merit and submitted to the court at the earliest to ensure effective prosecution.
Chaudhry Irfan Sadiq Tarar said allegedly murdering a woman and attempting to portray the incident as suicide was an extremely serious crime. He said the Punjab Prosecution Department would play its full role in bringing those responsible to justice in accordance with law.
He reiterated that Punjab Prosecution was following a zero-tolerance policy towards serious crimes against women and would utilize all available legal resources to ensure justice for victims through strong, effective and merit-based prosecution.
