Islamabad: Federal Shariat Court ( FSC) has declared attempted suicide an offence while issuing an important decision on legislation related to suicide attempt.

The court has nullified amendments 2022 by declaring the government legislation Un-Islamic.

FSC bench comprising chief justice Iqbal Hamid ur Rehman, Justice Anwar Iqbal and justice Amir Khan announced the decision.

The FSC while announcing reserved judgment approved all the petitions.

The court while terming attempted suicide an offence has declared legislation by the government in this regard Un-Islamic.

According to decision the court nullified the clause which excludes the attempted suicide from ambit of the offence . The clause related to criminal procedure which was expunged has been restored.

In 2022 the clause on declaring the attempted suicide a crime was expunged.
