ISLAMABAD:Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has said that generations of Pakistani diplomats have served nation with dedication, professionalism and quiet determination.
In his message on Foreign Service of Pakistan Day 2026, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said, 'Let us celebrate our collective achievements, honour the remarkable contributions of our predecessors, and take pride in the institution we have built together. Generations of Pakistani diplomats have served our nation with dedication, professionalism and quiet determination, often navigating formidable challenges with limited resources but an unwavering sense of purpose. Their legacy is our strength, and their example our inspiration.'
'We celebrate this occasion at a particularly significant moment in Pakistan's diplomatic journey. Our country's growing geopolitical relevance, expanding international engagement and increasingly recognised role in fostering dialogue, building bridges and facilitating peaceful solutions reflect the enduring value of principled and purposeful diplomacy. These achievements inspire confidence, but also place upon us a greater responsibility to sustain this momentum and explore new avenues and opportunities,' he said.
He said, 'The world around us is changing, and so is the very nature of diplomacy. Beyond traditional statecraft, economic diplomacy, public diplomacy, strategic communication and emerging technologies are redefining how nations engage, influence and advance their interests. We must broaden our diplomatic horizons, embrace innovation and cultivate the ability not merely to respond to change, but to anticipate and shape it.'
'Our greatest strength remains our people. The talent and fresh perspectives of our younger colleagues, the growing contributions of women diplomats, and the collective experience of our officers provide the foundation for a dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking Foreign Service,' he added.
He concluded, 'Let us aspire not merely to keep pace with a changing world, but to help shape its course, ensuring that Pakistan's voice is heard, its interests are advanced, and its rightful place in the community of nations is strengthened.'
