Rawalpindi: Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Ghana, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military-to-military relations and agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of joint training, counter-terrorism and defence production.
Lieutenant General William Agyapong highly praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their significant contribution towards regional peace and stability.
Later, Ghana's National Security Coordinator, Abdul Razak Osman, separately called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
Lieutenant General William Agyapong was also present during the meetings, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral defence ties and exploring avenues for greater cooperation among the armed forces of the two countries.
