Islamabad: Dr. Malik Abrar Hussain, Central President of the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association, demanded that the government provide electric buses to private educational institutions across the country because in light of court orders, about 95% of private schools cannot afford to buy buses worth crores.

In his statement issued here yesterday, Malik Abrar Hussain said that before making a decision about the private education sector, a consultation process should be adopted with the relevant stakeholders so that it helps in better decision-making for school owners and parents of children.

He said that instead of taking action against schools and colleges, the position of stakeholders should be heard, the government should provide cheap, environment-friendly transportation options.

The crisis of environmental protection and air pollution requires immediate government action! The government should also be obliged to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities.

The Environmental Protection Act of 1997 should be maintained to ensure a sustainable future.

He said that governments should establish a carbon-free environment by investing in nature-based solutions, promoting green investment and encouraging sustainable practices.

Speaking in light of the High Court orders, Dr. Malik Abrar Hussain said that 95 percent of private educational institutions cannot afford to buy buses. In the current era of inflation, it has become difficult for small schools to maintain their existence.

Parents cannot afford to pay heavy fees. In such a situation, it is impossible to buy buses worth crores of rupees.

If the government is serious about its orders, it should also provide electric buses to schools so that pick-and-drop facilities can be provided to children as per the court orders.
