Lahore: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that the provision of education and health should be the top priority of the government. Merit should be promoted in educational institutions and the culture of recommendation should be eliminated. Youth can be made useful citizens of the society by equipping them with skill education . He said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a private school in Fateh Jang, Attock.

Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that education is the basis of development through which poverty, ignorance, unemployment, backwardness and other problems can be overcome. He said that educational institutions that are doing business in the name of knowledge do not deserve to be called educational institutions. The Governor of Punjab said that along with education, we also have to focus on character building of students, which is the need of the hour. He said that 'Honihar Scholarship Programme' is commendable. The Governor of Punjab said that education should not be kept out of reach of the poor, rather should be made accessible to them. He said that there should be a uniform education system in the entire country.

The Governor of Punjab said that the government will have to take steps to provide better educational facilities in the remote and backward areas of the country. He said that in a backward district like Attock, talented children are deprived of education due to lack of educational facilities. The Governor of Punjab said that there is a severe shortage of educational institutions and public health facilities in Attock. He said that with personal efforts, he was going to develop a dialysis center and a state-of-the-art hospital along with providing free medical facilities to the poor and deserving people in Attock. The Governor of Punjab said that due to the lack of dialysis centers in the areas of Attock, people are facing problems. He further said that he has been federal minister four times and now he has become the Governor of Punjab, till date no one has accused me of corruption.
