Govt report seeking closure of Imran Khan X account presented in the court


Islamabad: A report by PTA has been presented in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in connection with plea seeking closure of PTI founder Imran Khan X account.



According to report, efforts are being made by the government since three and half years for closure of Imran Khan X account.



Under these efforts PTA wrote to X seeking closure of Imran Khan account on August 21, 2022.



An application was also written on April 18, 2024 by citing to the sentences awarded in Toshakhan , cypher and Iddat cases.



It has been told in the report that letter was written to X on November 27, 2025 seeking closure of 47 tweets of Imran Khan.



PTA wrote letter for 3 times during three and half years. But X rejected the plea. In November, 27, 2025 application seeking blockage of 47 tweets, X blocked one tweet out of the 47 tweets.



According to report the PTA asked the social media companies to register them with authority in Pakistan but the social media companies neither were registered now were they appointed any focal person in Pakistan.



It has been further told to the court the companies which are registered in their respective countries don’t consider them bound to follow laws of other countries.



Social media companies see the complaints of other countries in perspective of their own laws.
