Rawalpindi: Funeral prayers of Group Captain Asim Tariq Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom while courageously intervening to rescue a woman in distress in Islamabad, were offered on Monday.
The martyred Pakistan Air Force officer was laid to rest with full military honours in recognition of his exceptional courage, selfless devotion and unwavering sense of duty.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, attended the funeral prayers along with senior Pakistan Air Force officers, airmen and a large number of civilians to pay their final respects to the fallen officer.
Paying tribute to the martyr, the Air Chief said the sacrifice of Group Captain Asim Tariq reflected the finest traditions of the Pakistan Air Force and the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
He said the officer laid down his life while protecting an innocent citizen, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Air Force not only to defending the country’s frontiers but also to safeguarding the lives, dignity and honour of its people.
