Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level inter-ministerial meeting to discuss strengthening Pakistan's economic and trade relations with the European Union.

Ishaq Dar highlighted the importance of enhancing trade cooperation, exploring new opportunities for economic engagement, and further deepening Pakistan-EU economic relations. He emphasized that GSP Plus remains a crucial framework for mutually beneficial trade and underlined the need to maximize its potential for Pakistan's economic growth.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister of Commerce, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Foreign Affairs Ambassador Amna Baloch, Secretaries of Commerce, Human Rights and Human Resources, and senior officials from concerned provincial and federal departments and ministries.

Meanwhile Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a high-level meeting of the Economic Reforms Committee constituted by the Prime Minister.

The deliberations focused on structuring the Planning Division as a central clearinghouse for all economic policies with key stakeholders from economic and relevant ministries and the private sectors. Discussions also covered the formation of dedicated Policy and Development wings to ensure coordinated implementation of reforms and strategic initiatives across sectors.

The meeting was attended by Ministers of Planning, Finance, Power, EAD; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; the Chief Economist; Secretary Planning; and other senior officials from the concerned ministries.
