Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh has strongly criticized the Sindh government and KMC for what he termed its 'criminal negligence' in addressing the worsening water crisis in Karachi.

In a statement issued to the media, Haleem Adil Sheikh said the city, which contributes over 70 per cent of the country's revenue and 90 per cent of Sindh's financial resources, has been left at the mercy of a worsening infrastructure and an unchecked tanker mafia.

He blamed the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) which has ruled the province for the past seventeen years for failing to ensure a single drop of additional water supply to Karachi during its tenure. 'Even the current mayor of Karachi belongs to the PPP, yet the water crisis has only deepened,' he added.

Haleem Adil Sheikh alleged that Karachi's residents were being deliberately abandoned to a water mafia that profits from their misery. 'Water lines across the city are constantly bursting, and yet the provincial authorities remain silent spectators,' he said, calling the situation a form of 'institutional cruelty' towards the city's population.

The PTI leader endorsed the ongoing public protests across the city, expressing his party's full support for the citizens. He demanded immediate action to improve water supply, a crackdown on the tanker mafia, and the implementation of long-term reforms to ensure fair distribution of water across all areas of Karachi.

He concluded by stating that the discriminatory treatment of Karachi must end and vowed that PTI Sindh would continue to struggle for the rights of the city's residents at every forum.
