Islamabad: Senior journalist Mati Ullah Jan has told Supreme Court (SC) constitutional bench harassment of journalists and registration of false cases against them is still continuing.He told the court during hearing of suo motu notice case against harassing the journalists here in SC Monday.On the plea of Aqeel Afzal, president Press Association SC regarding police raids on the house of SC reporter Qamar Maikin and harassing him by police, the court has directed Additional Attorney General (AAG) to talk to IG Islamabad on the matter of raiding the house of SC reporter Qamar Maikan and harassing him and inform the court in this connection on next hearing.A 7-member SC constitutional bench presided over by Justice Amin ud Din Khan took up the case for hearing Monday.Salah ud Din counsel for Press Association of SC told the court 3 years have passed and no progress has come to fore in this case. They want to run the case still too.Senior journalist Mati Ullah Jan said harassment is still contin uing and false cases are being registered.Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked leave the cases which were registered earlier. Still they are saying they are facing harassment. We see them.The counsel said FIA sends notices for inquiry. Then lifts the journalists.Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked if no violation of law has been committed then there should be no harassment.President Press Association of Supreme Court (PASC) Aqil Afzal told the court police have conducted raid on the house of our court reporter Qamar Maikin.Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said we see this matter too.The court directed AAG to talk to IG Islamabad on this matter and inform the court thereof on next hearing.The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
