Islamabad: Higher Education Commission's (HEC) Report has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri degree case.
The reply from Karachi University too is part of the report.
It has been told in HEC report HEC has no role in the administrative matters of university. The existing writ petition is completely internal matter of university. Its own authorities of universities are responsible for issuing degree. HEC has no role in this respect.
It has been said in the report degree of Justice Tariq Jahangiri has not been presented before HEC for verification and not any application for verification of degree is pending with it. HEC neither issues degree nor approves them. HEC cannot verify any such degree which is not recognized under respective university or higher educational institute. HEC has no relevance with the facts of the matter or situation. The reasons for cancelling the degree of justice Jahangiri are mentioned in the reply from Karachi university.
Karachi university has taken plea in its reply unfair means committee imposed ban for three years on Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri in 1989. Committee had imposed ban for 3 years after the allegations of cheating in examination and threatening examiner were proved.
As per university decision 1989 Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri was eligible to re-appear in examination in 1992.
Student Tariq Mehmood used fake enrolment form of 1990 to obtain degree. He used fake stamp of Government Islamia college on it.
Karachi university told in the reply that enrolment number 87/5968 mentioned on Tariq Mehmood degree has been allotted to student Imtiaz Ahmad. Tariq Mehmood obtained enrolment No 87/7184 through forgery in connection with LLB PART -2 examination in 1990. He obtained marks sheets and degree by changing name and enrolment number.
Citizen Irfan Mazhar filed application for verification of degree of Tariq Mehmood on May 23, 2024 .
In reaction to the application from Irfan Mazhar the university scrutinized both of the enrolment numbers again.
Controller examination while declaring double enrolment number impossible declared the degree and mark sheets incorrect.
It was said in the reply of Karachi university Registrar IHC sought verification of letter of Controller Examination on July 05, 2024 through e.mail.
In reply to E.Mail of registrar high court, university confirmed the letter wherein degree was declared incorrect.
Principal Islamia college certified that Tariq Mehmood has never remained student of college from 1984 to 1991.
