High level meeting under PM considers different options on KP situation

Islamabad: A high level meeting was held under Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on law and order , political and security situation in KP

Overall situation of the province, planned long march of PTI and different legal and constitutional options were reviewed in the meeting.

Confirmation has been made regarding deliberation over different prospects including governor rule and emergency in reports of October 01 meeting. However no confirmation has been made about announcement of any final step.

According to sources interior minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed PM with reference to law and order, security situation , planned long march and behind the scene contacts with PTI.

Law minister presented his opinion on legal and constitutional aspects of the situation in the province.

The other government leaders informed the meeting about the political situation and contacts with the allies.

Constitutional options including governor rule and emergency in KP were considered.

Possibility has been shown about meeting of PM Shehbaz Sharif with president Asif Ali Zardari.

Sources said government strategy to maintain law and order situation in the event of long march was also reviewed.

The matter of talks and behind the scene contacts between government and PTI was also considered in the meeting.

PM directed in the meeting maintaining law and order situation and safeguarding the borders is top priority. Necessary measures for addressing the problems facing people of KP and peace in the province be ensured.
