Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought assistance from counsel for Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar regarding the powers delegated to DPM in the constitution on next hearing.

The petition filed by Sher Afzal Marwat MNA, against holding two offices by Ishaq Dar came up for hearing in IHC Thursday.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro remarked where it is mentioned in the constitution that DPM will exercise powers of executive. If DPM says tomorrow there will be assistant prime minister. Then what will we do. How can it take place. Assist us on this matter.

The court while seeking assistance from the lawyers said this will be there in France, Turkey and Iran but how it is here. Tell us.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro remarked we have to follow constitution. Make preparations for it and give arguments on next hearing.

Counsel Adil Wahid appeared in the court on behalf of Ishaq Dar while Riaz Hanif Rahi counsel for petitioner Sher Afzal Marwat gave arguments.

Riaz Hanif Rahi counsel for the petitioner was of the view that Ishaq Dar is holding two offices. He is DPM as well as foreign minister. No mention is made about the office of DPM in the constitution. Ishaq Dar is chairing all important meetings.

The court while seeking arguments on exercising the powers of executive by DPM adjourned the hearing of the case. Next date will be mentioned in written order.
