Karachi: Students from TABS College of Science Girls Section, Hyderabad, have proposed Nebulavolt - a fog-to-electricity safety device designed for fog-prone regions. The low-cost solution captures fog using a hydrophilic mesh and converts water droplet energy into clean electricity through triboelectric nanogenerators. The generated power can run streetlights, traffic signals, and roadside systems, improving visibility, reducing road accidents, lowering energy costs, and supporting safer, eco-friendly highways and smart cities.
The National Final was hosted in Karachi by the British Deputy High Commissioner, Lance Domm, in partnership with King's Trust International and SEED Ventures. Esteemed guests in attendance included the British High Commissioner, Ms. Jane Marriott CMG OBE, and the Secretary, Sindh Education and Literacy Department, Zahid Ali Abbasi.
Enterprise Challenge Pakistan is Pakistan's largest entrepreneurship competition for students aged 14-18. This year, the National Final showcased promising start-up ideas from five teams selected from regions across Pakistan.
The other finalist ideas included:
Quetta (Runner-up): Green Husk Creation - an innovative solution that transforms corn husk waste into bio-leather and paper sheets.
Gilgit City: HerLight Productions - Gilgit's first all-female-led production house.
Sadiqabad: Zindagi Check - an AI-powered mobile app for instant medication verification.
Peshawar: Capable Homes - a low-cost, easy-to-install home automation system enabling people with disabilities to live independently.
Prizes were awarded to celebrate innovation, climate friendliness, financial viability, and social impact.
The King's Trust Global Young Achiever Award Asia 2025 was presented to Zakia who won the Enterprise Challenge Pakistan in 2024 with her team's business concept of providing affordable braille books and transcription services for visually impaired school students. Zakia and her team are now using the prize money to progress their business, Roshni, in real life.
British Deputy High Commissioner, Lance Domm said: 'Meeting these extraordinary young finalists and hearing their innovative business ideas, and how they are helping their communities, has left me energised and hopeful going into 2026. They are a true credit to Pakistan. I've no doubt our paths will cross again as they go onto even bigger innovations.'
Global Young Achiever Award Winner Zakia said: 'The hands-on approach to learning and implementing a business with a team was incredibly valuable. It wasn't just theory - we were applying it in real time, which made the experience so much more impactful.'
