Islamabad: During the hearing of appeal pleas against the conviction of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in 190 million pounds case, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued directives to get sign from Imran Khan power of attorney of Suleman Safdar.
The court remarked Advocate General (AG) is directed to get sign the power of attorney within seven days.
Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif took up the case for hearing on Thursday.
Barrister Suleman Safdar counsel for PTI founder and Bushra Bibi appeared in the court.
NAB special prosecutor Javed Arshid and Rafay Maqsood appeared in the court.
Barrister Suleman Safdar said I have personal complaint with this court. Our miscellaneous petitions are rejected. I appeared 16 out of 18 times in Al-Qadir Trust case. I did not appear before the court for one time. It happened so due to differences with your order.
At present there is case of one man and one woman before you. My question is this why the power of attorneys are not being given.
CJ IHC said he should start giving arguments on central appeals.
Suleman Safdar said I am not having permission to start arguments. How can I give arguments.
The CJ IHC inquired will you not give arguments till the meeting is arranged.
Barrister Suleman Safdar said please get return me power of attorney. I am ready to give arguments.
The CJ IHC inquired where is AG.
State counsel appeared and said case is running to the extent of objections therefore, he has not appeared.
CJ IHC remarked he should have come no matter the case is running to the extent of objections. He has right that the power of attorney should be got signed. He is not satisfied with the case of this court and he can move to higher court.
Barrister Suleman Safdar said Supreme Court (SC) has given relief in one case. Then I have to go to this court for my lady client.
The CJ IHC said my order is there in place that power of attorney be returned to him after getting them signed.
The court directed to get sign the power of attorney from Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till last week of June.
