IHC issues notice to respondents, seeks reply within 24 hours on petition seeking dismissal of case against former senator Mushtaq Ahmad, his wife

Islamabad: On the petition seeking dismissal of case registered against JI former senator Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife for violating section 144 during expression of solidarity with Palestine , Islamabad High Court (IHC) has

issued notice to the respondents and sought reply within 24 hours .

Justice Muhammad Asif of IHC took up the petition filed by Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife Humaira Tayyaba for hearing Tuesday.

Imran Feeroz advocate appeared on behalf of Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife in the court.

The petitioner told the court there are two representations . First FIR was registered on 28. Protest is held on 30. Second FIR is registered. Peaceful protest is held on the site outside Press club. Five days have passed , even bail plea is not being heard. Order is not being issued on it. Yesterday date was fixed but no one is ready to hear it.

It is requested representative of any local government be called and directives be issued to decide it today. Our FIR be suspended. Women and children too are therein.

The court while issuing notice adjourned the hearing till today (Wednesday) .

Case was registered against former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife in police station Kohsar on May 30 . Police had arrested both former senator Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife.
