Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to secretary aviation and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on the petition filed against discriminatory treatment meted out by private airline company to an handicapped woman.The court has ordered respondents to file reply within 10 days.Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Aamer Farooq took up the case for hearing Thursday.Lady Zohra Sami, resident of Karachi filed petition in IHC stating that the petitioner lady is disabled person and she uses wheel chair for movement. She booked ticket of private airline company from Lahore to Karachi. She had to face extremely discriminatory treatment by private airline company. The company forbade her to board on plane in absence of servant.She further said in the petition that no information in this regard were available on website of private airline company. She had to miss flight. On the other hand private airlines company did not even bother to give any clarification.The petition said this attitude of private airlin e company constitutes violation of basic rights enshrined in article 9, 14 and 15 of the constitution.Rule No 81 of civil aviation authority gives right to handicapped person to decide about presence of servant with him or her.The petitioner requested the court to order civil aviation authority to ensure protection of basic rights of airlines passengers. Orders be issued to all airlines to impart special training to their staff regarding handicapped persons.Government, civil aviation authority and all airlines have been made respondent in the petition.
