Islamabad: A constitutional petition has been filed against non implementation of Fire Safety Rules in Islamabad High Court (IHC). The court has been requested to link registration of educational, medical and food institutions to fire NOC.
The petition has been filed by Malik Navid Ashiq Awan through advocate Afrasyab Ahmad Rana in IHC.
According to petitioner infants were killed in fire incident in PIMS hospital on August 26. Larger hospital like PIMS had no NOC from fire department.
Federation, chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner, MCI, HEC, PAERA, FDE and Islamabad food authority have been made respondents.
It has been said in the contest of the petition that fire fighting equipment, emergency passages and fire alarm are not available in buildings in the city.
The court has been requested to order for implementation of Fire Prevention and Live safety regulations 2010. Order be issued for conducting fire safety audit of all buildings and sealing all the buildings with no fire NOC in Islamabad forthwith. Updated list of the buildings having no fire safety NOC be made public.
The court has also been prayed to link registration of educational, medical and food institutions to fire NOC.
Regular inspection system be established for monitoring illegal and unsafe buildings.
