IHC moved on solitary confinement of Bushra Bibi

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been moved against solitary confinement of Bushra Bibi wife of Imran Khan.

A petition has been filed in this regard in IHC by Mubashra Khawar Monika.

As per media reports, the petition said meetings of Bushra Bibi with family members are stopped . No court has awarded solitary confinement to Bushra Bibi. Such sentence is illegal and transgression of powers under jail rules.

The petition further said under jail rules no prisoner can be kept in solitary confinement more than 14 days in one time.

It was requested in the petition that the solitary confinement of Bushra Bibi be declared violation of article 9 and 14 of the constitution.

As per UN Nelson Mandela rules keeping some one in solitary confinement for indefinite period is against human dignity.

It was further said in the petition surgery of right eye of Bushra Bibi was conducted in the month of April. She was shifted to hospital twice due to eye trouble. But jail authorities did not inform family members or lawyers of Bushra Bibi about eye problem and nature of treatment of eye.

The petition said Bushra Bibi was not shifted to hospital for proper diagnosis. PTI founder told the counsel that Bushra Bibi too is kept in solitary confinement in Adiala jail 24 hours.

The lawyers are being prevented from legal consultation and getting the power of attorney signed.

Superintendent, deputy superintendent Adiala jail, IG Jails ;Punjab and chairman NAB have been made respondents.

The court has been requested to declare the matter of keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement illegal.
