Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on maintainability of petition filed against appointment of Sikandar Sultan Raja as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).The Chief Justice (CJ) of IHC Aamer Farooq remarked on entry of counsel for Election Commission (EC) without court's notice " are you in too hurry. We have neither served notice nor have summoned till now.The CJ IHC gave these remarks during hearing of petition filed by Akram Bari against appointment of CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja Thursday.The counsel for petitioner said Sikandar Sultan Raja was serving bureaucrat when he was appointed as CEC. As per Supreme Court (SC) decision senior civil cannot be appointed. CEC is serving servant.Counsel for EC came on rostrum without notice.The counsel for EC said "I have notification of retirement in respect of Sikandar Sultan Raja before his induction as CEC.The CJ IHC remarked " you have neither been summoned nor has notice been issued to you so far.The CJ IHC while moving to couns el for EC remarked it seems as if you are in great hurry.The counsel said Sikandar Sultan was appointed CEC on January 24, 2020 and he was retired in 2019.The CJ IHC remarked ok thanks we see it.IHC reserved judgment on maintainability of petition after hearing arguments.
