Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on the plea seeking court's orders for early holding Local Bodies (LB) Election in Islamabad.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of IHC reserved judgment after hearing the arguments of the respondents.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar remarked the system has been ruined due to not holding LB polls.
Neither any property tax can be slapped nor any other work is being done correctly. The courts decisions regarding LB polls are being violated persistently.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked it is matter of surprise that those who had given the decision of holding election on one day, they suspended the decision while sitting in division bench. You are violating the law continuously since 2021.
Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Usman Ghumman said
legislation was enacted about LB polls. Due to it the election became delayed. Legislation and making amendment is job of the parliament.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked the present parliament is engaged in 27th constitutional amendment at present. The parliament is engaged in interpretation of the constitution now . Therefore any other amendment is difficult.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while moving to Assistant Attorney General (AAG) said AG Sahb, every wrong work cannot be defended. Parliament is supreme and it can change any law.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked when wrong laws are enacted then they have to be brought to zero later. It is difficult to bring the law back wherein there are too much mistakes.
DG Law Election Commission told the court there are complications in the amendments made in local government act-2025 about election.

The court gave important remarks on holding the offices of CDA chairman and Chief commissioner by one officer.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked it suits to government that one person holds two offices. The whole powers of local bodies representatives have been given to CDA. No one gave protection to local government election.
Yawar Gardezi appeared on behalf of the petitioner while DG Law of Election commission Arshid Khan appeared in the court.
