Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while issuing notice to federation and Election Commission (EC) on the petition against presidential ordinance regarding local government election in Islamabad and postponement of these election has sought reply.

The court clubbed this petition with JI case of the similar nature.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan of IHC took up for hearing petition filed by Markazi Muslim League Wednesday.

The petitioner Inam ur Rehman Kamboh appeared in the court along with his counsel Ashfaq Ahmad Kharal.

The counsel argued presidential ordinance of local government ordinance has been challenged. Holding election should be the top priority of election commission. Schedule was announced the papers were also filed. The elections were postponed despite completion of all requirements.

The counsel for the petitioner said local government elections have been postponed in Islamabad for the fourth time.

The court should declare presidential ordinance null and void and order for holding the local government election in Islamabad.

The court while seeking reply from federation and the election commission has adjourned the hearing of the case till January 27.
