IHCBA writes letter to US president seeking pardon, release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) has written a letter to US president for pardoning and releasing Dr Aafia Siddiqui besides expressing grave concern over her miserable condition .IHCBA wrote an open letter to US president Biden and a copy of this letter has been sent to leaders of Aafia Movement.The letter said Dr Aafia case is one among the most tragic incidents of history. Human rights violations were committed therein mercilessly.Rules and regulations and law were neglected during the process from initial arrest to hearing of the case.Medical record of Dr Aafia depicts she has been subjected to intense mental and physical torture.Dr Aafia endured such attitude and treatment which runs contrary to US traditions.Dr Aafia was kept from meeting her children. Such steps are against basic human rights and rights of prisoner.US kept on opposing violence against children for long time and despite it such inhuman treatment was meted out to Dr Aafia. These cont radictions can become cause of defamation for US all over the world.Release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui will forge norms of mutual trust and affinity between people and government of both Pakistan and US.
