Illegal appointments case: SC issues notice to Pervaiz Elahi, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, seeks reply

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) while issuing notice to former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti in illegal appointments case has sought reply from them.

The SC has also sought progress report from trial court in the case. While the court has approved interim bail of co-accused Roy Mumtaz in this case.

Deputy Prosecutor Punjab told the court that Pervaiz Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti are allegedly misusing bail after having been granted bail and they have remained absent from the courts hearing several times.

He took the plea that both the accused did not appear in the court 18 times due to which the trial process is becoming delayed.

The court was further told that the proceedings of the case is being affected due to their persistent absence.

The SC while issuing notice to Pervaiz Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti has sought reply from them.
