Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given one week time to NAB for preparation in connection with petitions filed by pattern in chief of PTI Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi seeking suspension of their sentence in 190 million pounds case.
Petitions filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi regarding suspension of sentence came up for hearing in IHC on Thursday.
A two members bench of IHC comprising acting Chief Justice (CJ) Sarfraz Dogar and justice Muhammad Asif heard the petitions.
Aleema Khan sister of PTI founder and other leaders were present in the court.
At the inception of hearing, Suleman Safdar counsel for petitioner said while arguing Toshakhana-1, Toshakhana-2 and now 190 million pounds case has been instituted . Over 300 cases were registered against PTI founder. He was awarded sentence from trial court.
High court said to prosecution if sentence has not been given correct then it is suspended. How these decisions are that husband and wife have been kept in jail since 6 months. The courts have already given bail being woman.
Counsel Suleman Safdar requested the court to hear the arguments and give decision today.
NAB sought time for 3 to 4 weeks from court.
NAB prosecutor said we have received notice yesterday. Give time. We want to bring special team against PTI founder.
NAB requested for giving 4 weeks time.
Acting CJ IHC remarked you have to get notification of prosecution team. Then get seven days time.
NAB prosecutor replied correspondence has to be made with law ministry. Give time for four weeks.
Latif Khosa took the plea PTI founder is in jail without any proof. Neither he will go abroad nor there is any fear of tempering the record.
The court remarked give time to them to notify legal team.
The court directed to notify NAB prosecution team within seven days.
NAB requested the court for giving them 14 days.
The court ordered to appoint special prosecutor till June 11 besides adjourning hearing of the case till June 11.
