Islamabad: PTI founder Imran Khan has nominated head of opposition alliance Mehmood Khan Achakzai as opposition leader in National Assembly (NA).
According to sources PTI founder has informed his visitors in Adiala jail about nomination of opposition leader.
Sources said it has been directed that more consultation be made for nomination of opposition leader in Senate. Azam Swati is the strongest candidate so far for opposition leader slot in Senate.
It may be mentioned after having been sentenced by Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in May 9 cases, PTI leader Omar Ayub had not only been deprived of opposition leader post in NA but he was also removed from Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and all the standing committees of NA.
Election Commission (EC) had issued notification regarding disqualification of Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz following the decision of the court and both the leaders have resorted to Peshawar High Court (PHC) against their disqualification.
As per media reports, Imran Khan has allowed party to contest by elections in the country in forceful way. He has also directed to prefer the family members of disqualified members of assembly in awarding tickets.
