Increasing domestic oil and gas production remains a key priority of the Govt’s energy security agenda: Ishaq Dar

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Committee on the Exploration and Production (EandP) sector.

The Committee reviewed progress on key initiatives and was briefed on ongoing offshore and onshore exploration activities, existing challenges, and reforms in the gas sector, including the completion of studies to support its long-term development.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister was also briefed on efforts to settle circular debt and optimize LNG supplies through indigenous exploration and production.

Appreciating the constructive contribution of all stakeholders, Ishaq Dar emphasized the need for enhanced coordination to address existing challenges expeditiously. He reaffirmed that increasing domestic oil and gas production remains a key priority of the Government's energy security agenda and assured full support to provide a secure and enabling environment for the sector.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Petroleum, Minister for Maritime Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, senior officials from relevant ministries, and heads of leading EandP companies.
