Karachi: To observe the Kashmir Day, the Jamaat-e-islami (JI) Karachi took out the Kashmir Solidarity Rally from Jail Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid, on Thursday. JI Karachi Chief Monem Zafar Khan led the march, whereas JI Pakistan Central General Secretary Ameerul Azeem delivered the presidential address. A large number of Karachiites, belonging to all sectors of life, participated in the march.In his presidential address, Ameerul Azeem said India is steadily advancing in occupied Kashmir while Pakistan's rulers remain silent. He stated that the Indian prime minister took a decisive step by abolishing the special constitutional status of Kashmir, yet Pakistan's rulers failed to take any action.He said the biggest obstacle to resolving the Kashmir issue is that Pakistan-despite being Kashmir's advocate-does not want to resolve the matter. Whenever the Kashmiri struggle intensifies, Kashmir flags are removed from Islamabad. He added that when the Indian pilot was captured, the government should have demanded the lifting of Syed Ali Geelani's house arrest and the release of Yasin Malik, but the rulers displayed cowardice. He stressed that the time has come for Pakistan's rulers to abandon cowardice and expediency, take practical steps for the liberation of Kashmir from India, and plead the Kashmir case at the global level.Ameerul Azeem said that according to United Nations resolutions, the people of Kashmir have the right to freedom of opinion and self-determination.He further said that generations have passed in Kashmir, yet the lines of martyrs have not ended. Indian forces' oppression has reached its peak, but whenever a young person is martyred, not only youth but also mothers and sisters come out to protest. Kashmiri mothers know that if Indian forces identify their son, their home may be demolished, yet they still come out. He said that on August 14, when Kashmiri homes are set on fire, they still celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day, and on August 15 they observe a Black Day.Monem Zafar Khan in his a ddress said that Pakistan's national policy from day one has been that 'Kashmir will become Pakistan.' The freedom movement initiated by Syed Ali Geelani continues to this day. He added that Qazi Hussain Ahmed mobilized conscientious people around the world in support of Kashmir, and for 36 years February 5 has been observed as a day of solidarity with the Kashmiris. He said that despite 78 years passing, UN resolutions have not been implemented. When issues like East Timor and South Sudan arise, the UN becomes active, but Kashmiris have not been granted freedom even after 78 years.He said India abolished Kashmir's special status in its constitution, robbing Kashmiris of their rights. He demanded the establishment of Kashmir desks in Pakistani embassies worldwide and called for vigorously presenting the Kashmir case internationally. He said that if Kashmiris are not granted their rights under UN resolutions, then the Kashmir issue can only be resolved through jihad and the battlefield. He added that even to day, the Kashmiri struggle is for accession to Pakistan. Despite India's worst state repression and violence, it has failed to erase Kashmiris' love for Pakistan.He criticized Pakistan's rulers for flawed policies, saying Kashmir does not even feature on the OIC agenda, and lamented the lack of serious, concrete, and practical steps for the Kashmir cause.JI leader Saifuddin Advocate said that Kashmir is Pakistan's jugular vein-this is not merely a slogan but the nation's ideology.Taufiquddin Siddiqui, JI Karachi Secretary, said Indian forces have turned Kashmir into the world's largest prison and imposed restrictions on education for Kashmiri boys and girls. He said every Kashmiri looks toward Pakistan, but rulers have no concern for oppressed Kashmiri Muslims.JI leader Abdul Razzaq Khan said Indian armed forces are forcibly occupying Kashmir and committing atrocities against unarmed Kashmiris.JI Minority Wing leader Younus Sohan Advocate said minority communities in Pakistan stand with the Kashmiri s. He stated that Jamaat-e-Islami is the only party that has consistently raised its voice for the Kashmir cause, and urged the rulers to raise the issue at the United Nations and ensure Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination.
