Lahore: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Lahore on a two-day visit to Pakistan.
On arrival, he was received by former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and other high officials were also present on the occasion.
Two children presented bouquet of flowers to the Iranian President on the occasion.
Later on Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid a visit to the mausoleum of Poet of the East Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal where he received a guard of honour from smartly turned-out personnel of the armed forces.
He offered fateha at Mazar-i-Iqbal and recorded his remarks in the visitor's book.
On this occasion, the Khateeb of the historic Badshahi Mosque, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad offered special prayers for the strengthening of Pak-Iran relations, prosperity and development of Pakistan and the well-being of Muslims.
During his stay, President Pezeshkian will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, as well as hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
It is first official visit of Dr. Pezeshkian to Pakistan as President of Iran. The visit of Iranian President is expected to further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran.
