Ishaq Dar chairs meeting of Committee constituted by PM for review of proposed reforms in Power Sector

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting of the Committee constituted by the Prime Minister for review of the proposed reforms in the Power Sector.

The meeting reviewed progress on the reform and privatisation agenda, including institutional strengthening and capacity building of key institutions of the Power Sector. The DPM/FM emphasized the need for a consumer-centric way forward, ensuring that ongoing reforms and privatisation translate into greater efficiency, sustainability and improved outcomes for electricity consumers.

Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of driving the reform process with a clear focus on results, institutional effectiveness and the long-term sustainability of the power sector.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Power, Minister for EAD, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretaries Cabinet, Power, National Coordinator-NCMC, and senior federal and provincial officials.
