New york: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The two counterparts discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international developments. DPM/FM underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and sustained engagement in promoting regional peace and stability. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact.
Meanwhile Ishaq Dar met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Hyun on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and economic relations. DPM/FM emphasized the importance of greater business-to-business engagement to unlock new opportunities.
The Korean Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional issues.
The two Foreign Ministers also underscored the importance of the multilateral system and reaffirmed their commitment to working together at the UN and other multilateral fora on issues of mutual interest.
Meanwhile Ishaq Dar met with the Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Iruthisham Adam, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction at the positive momentum in Pakistan-Maldives ties. They agreed on the importance of sustained high-level engagement and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, connectivity, economic relations, business-to-business linkages, academia, and defence.
The two sides also emphasized greater cooperation at the multilateral level, including through the UN, OIC, and SAARC, and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely on issues of mutual interest. The Maldivian Foreign Minister underscored the importance her country attaches to further strengthening its longstanding relations with Pakistan.
Meanwhile Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Germany Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UNGA in New York. Both Ministers felicitated each other on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany, and reaffirmed the importance of sustained high-level engagement to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial bilateral relationship.
The two Foreign Ministers discussed ways to further expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, economic relations, and business-to-business linkages. They also agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, education, skilled and people-to-people contacts.
The two sides exchanged views on regional developments. German Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
They also discussed the situation in Palestine, and DPM/FM reaffirmed the importance of sustained international efforts towards a ceasefire, humanitarian assistance, and a just and lasting solution based on the two-State solution. The two agreed to stay in close contact.
Meanwhile Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Nepal Shisir Khanal on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UNGA in New York.
Ishaq Dar conveyed condolences over the loss and devastation caused by the recent flash floods in Nepal, assuring that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Nepal in this difficult time. Foreign Minister Khanal expressed gratitude for Pakistan's support and briefed the DPM/FM on the extent of the calamity and its impact on people and infrastructure.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, including through the Political Consultations and Economic Consultations mechanisms. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and underscored the importance of continued coordination at multilateral fora, particularly the UN and SAARC. Both sides agreed to maintain contact to further expand bilateral cooperation.
