Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police issued more than 150 challan tickets in the first seven days after deploying a drone-based monitoring system.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (retd) Zeshan Haider said this is the first time in Pakistan that traffic challans have been issued using drone technology. A total of 208 violations were identified in a week, resulting in 163 tickets and 45 warning letters.

He said the drone monitoring system has proven effective for surveillance, enabling close observation of lane violations, red light offenses, and other traffic rule breaches.

The CTO added that the system's coverage will be expanded across Islamabad. He emphasized that violations of traffic laws will not be tolerated in the federal capital.
