JI challenges 26th constitutional amendment in SC

Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has filed petition in Supreme Court (SC) against 26th constitutional amendment.The number of petitions filed against 26th constitutional amendments rose to over 5 in SC.JI Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman filed the petition.The petition was filed through counsel Imran Shafiq.The petitioner took plea in the petition 26th constitutional amendment runs contrary to the constitution. Constitutional amendment is against basic constitutional structure and several constitutional clauses.The petitioner requested the court to nullify 26th constitutional amendment.Federal and all the four provincial governments have been made respondents in the petition.The petitioner prayed 26th constitutional amendment be declared null and void. It should be maintained that chief justice of Pakistan will be appointed as per seniority.It was further said in the petition that appointment of Chief Justice of Pakistan by parliamentary committee be declared null and void. The formation of n ew judicial commission be suspended.;
