Karachi: The Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in against the petroleum levy and "anti-people" IPP agreements outside Sindh Governor House completed one month on Monday, with JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar saying the protest would not be withdrawn and a "historic" Islamabad march would take place on Sept 20 if the government fails to provide any substantial relief.Addressing participants, he said in unequivocal terms that JI would not backtrack from its principled stance and public struggle against the levy.'If the government does not provide genuine relief to the public, our dharnas will continue and a grand and historic march towards Islamabad will also be held on September 20,' he said, adding that thousands from Karachi would participate.He said registration for the march was under way in full swing and people from all walks of life - youth, elders, children, students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, engineers, ulema, traders and labourers - were participating in the dharnas and expressing solidarity.JI Pakistan supr eme leader Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman will address a public gathering at Sindh Governor House tonight (Tuesday) at 8pm, Zafar announced.Participants from across the city were arriving in unique ways. On Sunday night, foot processions arrived from Power House Chowrangi, North Karachi, led by North District head Tariq Mujtaba Khan, and from Natha Khan Goth, led by Airport District chief Muhammad Ashraf, while a camel rally from Keamari district reached the venue.Monem Zafar welcomed the foot marchers and the camel rally. The camel rally had started from Gulbai under Keamari District chief Fazal Ahad, was received at Regal Chowk by deputy chief Karachi and Opposition Leader in KMC Saifuddin Advocate, who led it to the Governor House.Separately, the father and sister of slain Mir Raza, along with a large delegation, joined the sit-in. He said Mir Raza was the pride of Karachi and the apple of his parents' eye - educated and running his own business. 'JI stands shoulder to shoulder with Mir Raza's family in t heir struggle. We will continue our struggle together - for this Mir and for lakhs of Mirs who are not getting justice. We will continue to struggle to establish justice against the system of oppression,' he said, adding that the day was not far when Mir Raza's killers would be arrested.Mir Raza's father Mir Hussain Raza said his pride had been snatched from him. He thanked Monem Zafar for inviting them to the sit-in. 'Doctors from interior Sindh were called to conduct my son's post-mortem and attempts were made to cover up the case. All negligence was on the part of police. If I had not reached my son's body, today I would have been running around to lodge a missing person's report. Our system has become such that it is backing criminals,' he said.
