Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir People's Freedom League (JKPFL) has strongly condemned the attachment of ancestral immovable properties, including 33 kanals of land and a residential house, valued at over Rs 7 crore INR belonging to Senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman of JKPFL, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, by Indian authorities in Onagam Bandipora, occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

JKPFL spokesman Muhammad Umar in a statement in Srinagar, denounced the move, stating that it has no relevance to the ongoing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJandK) and is in violation of international humanitarian law. He further asserted that the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Indian authorities against Muhammad Farooq Rehmani is 'false and fabricated,' aimed at instilling fear among the people of Kashmir.

'The Modi-Amit Shah establishment, lacking moral and democratic legitimacy to govern the occupied territory, is resorting to such actions out of frustration and failure,' Muhammad Umar said in a statement.

He added that property confiscation, imprisonment of Hurriyat leaders, or suppression of human rights advocates would not deter Kashmiris from their peaceful struggle for freedom and the right to self-determination, as guaranteed under relevant United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, the Modi regime has intensified its policy of forcibly confiscating properties owned by Kashmiris, with the intent to hand them over to non-Kashmiri Hindu settlers as part of a demographic re-engineering project in the territory.

The spokesman strongly denounced India's 'illegal and baseless' actions and urged constitutional lawyers and human rights organizations to take notice and push for the revocation of laws enabling such property attachments. He called upon the global community to hold India accountable for its continued violations of fundamental rights in the occupied region.
