Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh of LHC resigns

Lahore: Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh of Lahore High Court (LHC) has resigned from his office.

He was appointed as Additional Judge on May 7, 2021. Justice Rahil Kamran Sheikh has resigned under article 206 of the constitution. Justice Rahil Kamran Sheikh has resigned from his post after staying in his office for 5 years, 3 months and 27 days. He has sent his resignation to the president Asif Ali Zardari.

Justice Sheikh thanked his senior colleagues on the bench for their guidance and his staff for their support, saying he was leaving with an 'enduring commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law'.

A copy of the resignation was also sent to the LHC registrar. He has written in his resignation he is resigning on personal reasons. I am resigning from my office under article 206 of the constitution.

He said he has decided to work in legal scholarship, policy research and comparative judicial matters.

Discharging obligations on judicial post remained matter of pride and honor for me, he added.
