Kalabagh dam project is project of national interest: CM KP

Peshawar: Chief Minister (CM) KP Ali Amin Gandapur has said Kalabagh dam project is in the national interest.

As per media report CM KP said during his meeting with CPNE delegation that Kalabagh dam project is in the national interest. Reservations of Sindh and Balochistan should be allayed on this project.

He held if the reservations of both the provinces are removed then consensus will too build up.

If consensus is evolved then it is not difficult thing to pass resolution in assembly in favor of Kalabagh dam.

Only ANP opposes this project from KP, he said adding what is its worth as it is having only one seat in assembly.

Delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) met with CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur and discussed the matters related to problems facing news papers industry.

Ali Amin Gandapur said KP government fully believes in freedom of expression. We have completely rejected PECA act. This is attack on independence of media. We don't accept any such law which curbs freedom of expression.

He remarked no FIR has been registered against any one under this law in KP. I will not tolerate any action under PECA act in NWFP.

Criticizing and raising questions is right and job of media. Media should criticize us. We will reform ourselves in the light of criticism of media.

He said that what act under the name of Awami Aagahi" has been passed recently by Punjab government its manuscript was made during tenure of caretaker government. Punjab government should clarify it is care taker government still running in Punjab.

He underlined the right to ask question has been given by our deen. This law of Punjab government is against Islamic norms.

This law is in conflict with basic right of freedom of expression. This undemocratic law of Punjab government should be rejected.

Media has right to ask question. Media should question. We are accountable to people.
