Kashmir a political issue, must be resolved on UN principles: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the escalating atrocities being committed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stressing that the Kashmir dispute is a purely political issue that must be resolved in accordance with the United Nations-mandated principle of the right to self-determination.

According to reporter, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued from Srinagar, hailed the unparalleled sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir in their struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. He said these sacrifices form a remarkable chapter in global history, symbolizing a righteous and unwavering demand for a UN-supervised plebiscite.

Minhas lauded the steadfastness of the people of IIOJK and the Hurriyat leadership imprisoned for their political convictions. He sharply criticized the BJP-led Indian government for pushing a Hindutva-driven settler agenda aimed at altering the demographic character of the internationally recognized disputed territory.

He said the BJP regime was using draconian laws, mass surveillance, and coercive tactics to intimidate and silence the oppressed Kashmiri population, attempting to force them to abandon their just political demand.

Reaffirming Kashmiris' resolve, the APHC reiterated its commitment to continue the ongoing freedom struggle until its logical and rightful conclusion. The spokesman urged the United Nations Secretary-General, Ant³nio Guterres, to take immediate notice of the grave human rights situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to initiate concrete steps for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with relevant UN resolutions.
