Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and across the world will observe October 27 as Black Day to draw the world's attention to the ongoing tragedy caused by India's continued illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

It was on October 27, 1947, when Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir in total violation of the Partition Plan of the subcontinent and against the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, urged the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and around the world to observe Black Day on Monday.

He said the day aims to sensitize the international community about the urgent need to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people to avert a crisis that could have grave implications for global peace.
