Peshawar: Provincial Minister for Health Khaliq ur Rehman has welcomed the introduction of the Pharmacy Services Policy by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as a major step toward strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring safe and effective use of medicines across the province.

The policy aims to integrate pharmacy services into healthcare facilities, improve patient safety, and enhance the quality of medical treatment. It also emphasizes rational drug use, evidence-based therapy, and strengthening the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system.

Under the new policy, pharmacovigilance centers will monitor medicine safety and effectiveness, while antimicrobial stewardship programs will promote responsible antibiotic use to combat resistance. The initiative will also improve the medicine supply chain, including proper storage, handling, and availability of essential drugs across healthcare facilities.

Khaliq ur Rehman directed authorities to ensure effective implementation of the policy, highlighting that it will reduce unnecessary hospital stays, improve therapeutic outcomes, and enhance overall healthcare efficiency. He reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to strengthening the health system for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
